QuesadillaBENNETT'S WALLABYAge: 6 years Height: About 2 1/2 feet Weight: 23 pounds Born: Fort Wayne Children's Zoo In the wild: Wallabies hop through the grasslands and brush of eastern Australia and Tasmania. Family: Wallabies are marsupials. Babies, or joeys, are born very tiny and crawl into their mother's front pouch to grow. Joeys move out of the pouch at about 8 weeks old. Food: In the wild, grass and plants. At the zoo, monkey chow, rabbit food, carrots and apples. Fun fact: The zoo's Bennett's wallabies all are named after Mexican foods. |
